In-Compasse International provides comprehensive consulting and online training services to small- and medium-size enterprises (SMEs) so they know how to successfully compete in global markets. Incorporating public and private sector resources, In-Compasse offers the scope and the resources required for an integrated approach to exporting.
In-Compasse was founded by Kay Carrico in 2005 to provide export consulting and training in an easy-to-access and affordable way. Carrico worked extensively as an international trade specialist in state economic development and also as a private export consultant.
The services she developed for her company specifically address the needs of small- and medium-size enterprises. Such firms usually describe the export process as being too confusing, with out-of-the-office seminars being too costly and requiring too much time away from work. Workplace training through In-Compasse is provided on-site by Carrico and other consultants such as lawyers and logistics professionals — all experts in their field who have lived and worked abroad promoting U.S. companies. A new online training product was developed with these same experts. And the Experts in Exports team was created.
Of the approximately 5.6 million SMEs with payroll, only about 4% export. The reasons the percentage is not greater is because of the time and cost involved according to a recent article article published by the SBA. In-Compasse has addressed those issues with its on-line training that is both convenient and affordable.
Exporting should also be considered by technology companies which are established and seeking additional venture capital for accelerated growth. Again an SBA article states that companies seeking medium-term venture capital are 60 times more likely to obtain the necessary funds if 10% of their business is exporting. The mission of In-Compasse products and services is to educate companies about the programs and opportunities to help more companies become successful exporters.
